Flu Shots
Each autumn, health care providers all over Ontario prepare to immunize their communities against the seasonal flu, COVID-19, and certain respiratory viruses. In Mount Forest, you can book online or call our clinic to make an appointment. Before you book, please note that:
We are required to begin offering the vaccine(s) to the populations in our community who are at the highest risk of serious illness and complications from seasonal influenza, COVID-19, and other respiratory viruses.
Our community is better protected when many people choose to be vaccinated. Getting your flu shot at your local pharmacy is every bit as safe and effective as getting it at our clinic.
The best flu shot you can get is one that you can get in a timely manner; although you may be advised to get the high-dose vaccine, it isn’t always available due to demand. It's generally better to get the standard dose than no dose at all.
Flu shot clinics: October 21st and 28th:
· Are by appointment only during our influenza immunization clinics, available for any member of our community—you do not need to be a patient at the clinic.
· Online booking for our local clinics is available or call us at 519-323-0255 and speak to reception
· Are also offered by Public Health and local pharmacies each fall.
You will be asked screening questions before your injection, including if you are feeling well
· Require you to wait 15 minutes after the flu shot to ensure no adverse reaction
Please note:
· Influenza vaccines are for people age 6 months and up.
· A regular dose is better than no dose in the event high-dose vaccine is unavailable

Scheduled Immunizations
Childhood Immunizations
Are your child’s vaccinations up-to-date? If you’re not sure, and aren’t certain what vaccines your child needs for school, talk to your healthcare provider or contact your local Public Health Unit to speak with a nurse about vaccine requirements.
Childhood Immunization Schedules
Babies’ vaccinations are due at 2 months, 4 months, and 6 months of age.
Infants’ age 12 months must receive their vaccines on or after the child’s birthdate, NOT EARLIER.
Children’s vaccines are due at age 15 months, 18 months, and then a booster is due between the ages of 4 and 6 years old.
Grade 7 vaccines are administered via Public Health at your child’s school, they can be specially ordered at your Physician’s office, or an appointment can be made with your local Public Health Unit. Grade 7 vaccines include meningococcal disease, (Menactra, mandatory per public health), Hepatitis B and human papillomavirus (HPV, Gardasil) are both recommended.
Adolescents between the ages of 14 and 16 years old require a booster of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis, with a further booster required every ten years.

Adult Vaccinations
Vaccinations are important for people of all ages because they provide the most effective protection against many communicable diseases. During adulthood, booster shots for those vaccinations you likely received in childhood will help to maintain your protection against various illnesses.
